Bangladeshi GM Molla Abdulla Al Rakib finished first, alone with 8 points, undefeated in the 9-round Swiss System held 19-27 March 2017 in Kantipath, Kathmandu, Nepal.
GMs Ziaur Rahman, with 7.5 points, and Niaz Murshed, 6.5 points, both of Bangladesh, finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Untitled Sri Lankan Kalugampitiya R.S. finished with 6 points to earn the FM title.
WIM Hamid Rani of Bangladesh finished in a tie with defending champion WIM Akter Shamima, also of Bangladesh. Rani won the tie break by Direct Encounter, having beaten Shamima in the 3rd round. WFM Nazrana Khan of Bangladesh landed third with 6 points and earned a WIM norm.
