How old is Lie? Is he among the strongest Norwegian?
Dont remember exactly – he is 26 years. And yes, he is among the strongest Norwegians. He came 3rd in the Norwegian Championship (where the 2 best players in Norway rating-wise didnt participate – Carlsen and Agdestein). I think he is number 3 ratingwise in Norway with a rating of 2536 (but that will be higher after this tourney since he has a rating-performance of 2761 after 8 of 9 rounds. Kjetil Lie has taken a break from other things (work/studies) and focus 100 pct. on chess for one year. That might be some of the reason why is performing so much better than expected.
Carlsen has been playing listlessly the past week. It looks like he needs a break.
Greetings, does anybody know if GM Lie is active currently ( Nov 2010 ) or spending more time at home…serious question. I can’t find a site for him, no twitter or anything similar. I’ve asked Magnus, via twitter, and am awaiting a reply. Thanking in anticipation, D.
