I think it is a norse dog – weird can turn their heads 180 degrees. Pretty cool looking when they look down the back of their spine. Think it is called a Lundehund.
anonymous #2 is correct. I think they were bred for hunting puffins and other things along the steep crackly cliffs of Norway. In addition to their extraordinary flexibility (they can do splits in addition to laying their heads backwards on their backs), they also have six toes instead of the usual four, allowing them a much better grip than other dog species have.
