The closing ceremony of the FIDE World Youth U16 Olympiad 2016 took place on July 29th at 4pm in Poprad Arena. 40 countries with 54 teams competed for the gold, silver and bronze medals, trophies and other prizes.
After a tense battle in the 9th round the team of Iran became a clear and well deserved winner. Russia won the silver and Armenia the bronze.
The awards were given by FIDE officials Mr. Ozgur Solakoglu and Mr. Paris Klerides, city official Mr. Igor Wzos and the tournament director Mrs. Eva Repkova.
