Thank you Dario for letting us know!
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
oh, too good Susan!
thanks !
Is it ok to ask if he is Native American usa born also. Always like to see native guys making the
GM. I think that is good for usa chess.
Fabiano was born in the US and played his first event at the Polgar Chess Center. I believe one of his parents is Italian and now he is living and playing for Italy.
correct the last sentence
dario
the last message i mean
Well if he is now playing for Italy I am greatly disappointed. He is no longer an American player.
Why did he change to Italy. Has he applied for Italian citizenship.
I want to hear and read more about loyal American citizen chess players.
If he is now Italian then write him up in the Italian chess news.
I am very disappointed to find out that he has changed his loyalty to another country.
First he was in the NYC area, hten he moved to Florida I believe, then the change of federations thing happened. I remember him playing in the 2004(?) NJ Open. He’s so young!
Sure he is an American player who plays for Italy. Nothing wrong with that.
He was born in Florida with dual citizenships, and now lives with his family in Budapest.ilk
if so many players can be born whoknowswhere and play for the u.s., why does it surprise you that it can happen vice versa? and why the dissapointment?
should hungary be disappointed by polgar playing for u.s.? or japan by nakamura? or russia by kamsky? we live in a global world.
and overall his father is italian i believe…so,at least, that is not so strange
forza italia!
btw: home is where the heart is, isn’t it?
Well I hope to see chess become more popular in usa. We have Magnus Carlsen plays for his country. Bobby Fischer at the time played for his country. Anand plays for India. All these have been good for chess in their country.
When someone moves into USA, It is good but not as good as if the person were native born.
Here we have an example of someone born in usa who is now playing for Italy or Hungary. Well I dont think he can generate the same interest in those countries either.
Nothing wrong with my feelings. I have a perfect right to feel whatever feelings I feel. No one has a right to abuse me by telling me that my feelings are not appropriate. I will state that my feelings always are appropriate just as your feelings are always appropriate for you.
I will say that I feel disappointed that Fabiano has moved out of the usa. Just not the same.
I am not against people moving around in this world. Everyone can live where they want to live. Fine with me. I simply want to have some super chess player born and raised in my country to cheer for. Nothing wrong with that.
“No one has a right to abuse me by telling me that my feelings are not appropriate.”
First of all, this is just picking a fight.
Sceond, the implicit assumption is that telling you your feelings are inappropriate is abuse. That does not logically follow. We do have the right to tell you that. You, in turn, have the right to consider it abuse. It is not automatically so.
