I was trying to play chess against my not terribly good Chess Titans program and I got mated in 5,
1. f4 e5 ( hah, stupid program that’s not protected )
2. fe d6 ( hm, if I take that then I should be okay )
3. ed Bxd6
4. Nf3 g5 ( how did the stupid program see that? Have to stop … g4 )
5. h3?? Bg3#
I got this one almost immediately- it was obvious the black rook had to go, but white had to force the black king to recapture at f8 and the rest just fell into place in seconds. It also helped that white had to play checks to avoid harassment, so I didn’t have to look at any move at the start but Qc5 or Bc5, but that decision was easy.
1. Qc5+ Ke8 2. Qxf8+ Kxf8 3. Bc5+ Ke8 4. Rg8+ Bxg8 5. Rxg8#

When I was high school, two of my classmates were playing a game and one of them fell into Fool’s Mate within the first few moves of the game.
