I watched this game on agadmator’s youtube channel. This was the Armageddon game, and Ivanchuk missed several chances to seize big advantages in the early going. But here he allowed 1…N:e4.
1 … Nxe4 looks good.
After that, 3 possible replies:
A. Rxf7 Nxc5, Rxf8 Kh7
B. Qxf8 Rxf8, Rxf8 Kh7
C. Nxe4 Rxf5
I am not sure which one is better.
Nxe4 Rxf7 Nxc5? (don’t be so eager to grab the queen)
Qxf8+ is certainly white’s best, but after Rxf8 Rxf8+ Kh7 Nxe4 Qxe4, black is winning.
