Iran prefers chess to American football: Mottaki
Tehran Times Political Desk
TEHRAN — Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki says that Iran is more inclined toward chess than American football.
“We have no interest in American football. Rather, we are interested in a fair chess match, which requires fortitude and patience because in chess an unnecessary or illogical move will lead to defeat,” he told the Serbian daily Politika in an interview published on Sunday.
Mottaki made the remarks during his recent visit to Serbia.

The US needs to promote more chess in education not to fall behind other countries.
Why exactly the Iranian minister would think such a statement would be relevant escapes me. After all, given that American football is only popular in the US, should we really expect anything else? Stating the obvious is not really news, is it?
Exactly. Nobody is interested in a game as moronic as american footbal but americans. I guess he is simply rubbing salt in the wound. 🙂
What we just go Terrel Owens here in Buffalo on the way to the Superbowl!! Yeah we know hes a bad boy “like me” and we can play a bit of chess in the U.S. too so they dont want none, we will play Iran in a chess match anyday and win all day long !
