Chess grandmaster to give exhibition in Red Bank Aug. 12
RED BANK — The Monmouth Chess School and Club has announced that grandmaster Nigel Davies, former British under- 21 chess champion and winner of 15 international competitions, will give a 20- board simultaneous exhibition and lecture starting at 1 p.m. Aug. 12.
The participant board fee is $35; observer fee is $25 (does not apply to parents of participants).
On Aug, 11, Davies will give two indepth instructional clinics: “The Building Blocks of Chess Mastery,” 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and “Pattern Recognition, The Openings and Developing Your Chess” 2-5 p.m. The fee for either clinic is $49.
All events will take place at 51 Monmouth St., Red Bank. Signups are on a firstcome, first-served basis. Space can be reserved by check to the Monmouth Chess School and Club.
