CCL to Host Ohio’s first IM Norm Tournament in 30 years
CCL, the largest chess program in Ohio, is hosting an International Master norm round robin tournament from February 14 – 18, 2014. It is the first such tournament in Ohio in at least thirty years. The tournament is sponsored by Fahey Bank.
The International Masters competing in the event are: IM Goran Vojinovic (SRB), IM Atanas Kizov (MKD), and Mauricio Arias Santana (CRC).
The players competing for an IM norm include some of the top young talent in the Midwest.
They include:
FM Sean Vibbert – Top rated player in Indiana
FM Seth Homa – Top rated player in Michigan
FM Atulya Shetty – National High School Champion
FM Awonder Liang – Two time World Youth Champion
NM Walker Griggs – Two time Ohio Champion
NM Scott Ramer – Central Ohio Invitational Champion
NM John Hughes – North American Youth U16 Champion
The tournament will be a 10 player round-robin (all play all), with rounds scheduled as follows:
14th: 7:00 PM, 15th: 11:00 AM & 6:00 PM, 16th: 10:00 AM & 5:00 PM; 17th: 10:00 AM & 5:00 PM, 18th: 9:30 AM & 3:30 PM.
The competition is being held at 150 East Wilson Bridge Road, Worthington, Ohio. The chief arbiter is FA Boyd Reed.

I’m at a point in life where I cannot play a good game but can, nonetheless, appreciate one. Some of these games are marvelous, and I love re-playing them. Great job, you guys. This is a solid group of talent.
