Cuba’s GM Lazaro Bruzon Wins his Fifth Crown at the Catalan Circuit

Las Tunas, Cuba, Aug 14, (P26).- Cuban Grand Master (GM) Lázaro Bruzón won the Ciutat Vella Open Chess Tournament, to achieve his fifth title at the Catalan Circuit.
The Cuban Chess Champion finished with 8 points -six wins and four draws. Mexican GM Manuel Leon Hoyos and Spanish IM, obtained the same scored, but the tiebreak system favoured Bruzon.
With games of 15 minutes and five seconds increment per move, it was the first of the two fast tournaments in Bruzon’s schedule in Spain. the outstanding chess player from Las Tunas province is also registered in the Open of Vila de Poblenou, to be held on Saturday and Sunday.
GM Lazaro Bruzon has also wan the contests in Montcada, Barbera, San Juan and Badalona, and was second in Andorra. He is unbeaten in 54 games, with balance of 30 wins and 18 draws.
