1. Qe8+ KxQ 2. Bg5+ Ke8 3. Rd8++
1. Qe8+ KxQ 2. Bg5+ Kc7 3. Bd8++
1. Re1 Bf5
2. f3
I have seen the same theme on one of my chess book.
This one looks like a caro-kann opening and the position is very early in the game.

Re1! and pawn f3 wins a piece.
1.Re1,…. 2Pf3
This is a classical theme. I think Morphy was the first.
It’s mate in 3.
1. Qe8+ KxQ 2. Bg5+ (Ke8 3. Rd8#) Kc7 3. Bd8#
Bg5 leads to the bishop being taken or block by a pawn

After 1.Qe8+ KxQ (forced), then 2.Bg5+ is double check (both Bishop and Rook check) and so the black King must move. The first poster had the correct solution.
This is an old “textbook” position.
That’s a famous position from Reti-Tartakower, Vienna 1910
1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 dxe4 4. Nxe4 Nf6 5. Qd3 e5 6. dxe5 Qa5+ 7. Bd2 Qxe5 8. O-O-O Nxe4

9. Qd8+ Kxd8 10. Bg5+ Kc7 11. Bd8#
Chuckling…
Was Tartakower drunk when he played this game?
If not, he must have felt soused after this game was over!
