I bet 5 year old Leeam is getting ready to pull one of these very soon.
Now for me, I am getting all set to play one of these in my next lifetime. It is taking me 2 lifetimes to get there.
I can not give the solution. It takes the fun away from the next guy. Besides, I used the computer to help me out. I am not this good a chess player yet.
1…Qh4 2.Bxh3 (otherwise black mates by 2…Rh1+ 3.Kg2 Qh2#)Qxh3 3.Nxf8 (or 3.fxe4 Qg4+ 4. Kh1 Rf6 followed by mate on h6. This can be prolonged by a knight sacrifice, but not stopped)exf3 followed by mate on g2.
Nice game. Pooe IM’s getting beat up.

How about Qh4?
I think white must Bxh3 to avoid mate.
Then
Qxh3 if Nxf8, Nf4 with mate to follow Qg2
If anything else, then exf3 with the mate Qg2 to follow.
Hi Susan.
This is a good one. I wonder how far back you saw this? Is there somewhere we can see the whole game?
I think the rook sack wins:
1. Rh1+ Kxh1 2. Qh4+ Kg2 3. exf3+ Bxf3 4. Rf6.
Qh4 is perhaps too slow:
After
1. Qh4 Bxh3 2. Qxh3 Nxf8 3. Nf4
white gets in some annoying checks starting with 3..Qb3.
I saw the line in about 4-5 seconds. That’s why I played it 🙂 Maybe I was lucky. One of those days 🙂
Best wishes,

You are missing Nxg5.
What happens after 1. Rh1 Kxh1 2. Qx4 Kg1?
