Jena holds Mousavi
New Delhi (05 May 16) :- Odisha youngster Rakesh Kumar Jena held fifth seed Iranian International Master Mousavi Seyed Khalil to a creditable draw in the second round of the ongoing Asian Junior Open Chess Championship here at Park Plaza today. Playing with white pieces of London system Jena forced his Iranian rival to sign the peace treaty after 42 moves.
Top seed Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram defeated country mate Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad while second seed Grandmaster Karthikeyan Murali garnered victory over Sammed Jaykumar Shete in 34 moves. Another Indian Grandmaster in the fray S L Narayanan also had easy day as he overcomes his Indian International Master rival Krishna Teja without much struggle.
In the girls section, top seed R Vaishali outwitted Jemal Ovezdurdiyeva of Turkmenistan with black pieces while third seed Women International Michelle Catherina had an off day as she suffered defeat by the hands of K Priyanka.
Maharashtra girl Sakshi Chitlange defeated fourth seed Uuriintuya Uurtsaikh of Mongolia while fifth seed Nandhidhaa PV satisfied with half point against Priyanka Nutakki.
