The 17-year old Italian Alessio Viviani emerged winner in the 5th Qualifier tournament of the FIDE World Online Blitz Championship 2015.
The tournament was held on 11th June on the official FIDE Online platform. The playing format was 11-round Swiss with the time control 3′+2”.
In the field of 32 players Viviani (2090) edged the much stronger opposition, concluding the tournament with 10,0/11 points.
IM Daniel Fernandez (England) is second with 9.5 points, IM Joshua Ruiz (Colombia) is third with 9,0 points, while IM Razvan Preotu (Canada) and FM Saikrishna Gottipati (India) shared the 4th place with 8,0 points each.
Also qualified for the Championship semifinal are Mireya Represa Perez (Spain), AIM Mateusz Kurnicki (Poland) and J A K Saranath Nanayakkara (Sri Lanka).
The 1st FIDE World Online Junior Blitz Championship 2015 is currently ongoing on the official FIDE Online platform.
The first stage of the Championship will be completed over eight (8) qualifier tournaments, followed by a semifinal with 64 players, and a final tournament with 16 players.
The winner of the final tournament will be awarded with the prestigious title of FIDE World Online Junior Blitz Champion.
A rich prize fund of 4250 USD will be awarded in the final tournament.
