Grand Master-elect Haridas Pascua placed third in the Battle of Grandmasters (BOGM) edging other known GMs recently.
The 22-year-old University of Baguio Information Technology graduate finished the tournament with 5.5/10 points courtesy of two wins, seven draws, and one loss.
GM Richard Bitoon topped the event with 7.0/10 points from four wins and six draws.
In second place was GM Joey Antonio, who was a little behind Bitoon on tie breaks. He also had the same score of 7.0/10 from five wins four draws and one loss.
The top three finishers were elated to have finished the tournament ahead of last year’s BOGM winner GM Eugene Torre, Asia’s first chess GM.
