Welcome Mates!
You do mean “Checkmates”!
Where is Castlemaine? Is it worth a visit?
Castlemaine is one of Australias hidden treasures. It is in Victoria, 110km north of Melbourne(off the main road- not a place you drive through!) with a population of 8000. It is the location where gold was first found in Australia in the 1850’s and triggered Australias Gold rush of that era. It is a beautiful country town, with many period buildings, a strong sense of history and community……. just a very very special place.
It is DEFINATELY worth a visit!
