As I stated at the top of this blog, this site is where I provide chess fans and enthusiasts with updates on my chess activities as well as commentary on important chess news from around the world. I try to be as frank as possible.
I will post items that are interesting for me or if I think are interesting for the viewers. The most important thing is I will update this site multiple times daily as news come in. There will be at least one new puzzle a day.
It is also a site where everyone can productively discuss or ask questions about various chess issues! If you know of any interesting news or if you would like to share with everyone about some special upcoming chess events, please send me an e-mail with all the details. I will post them if I feel they are appropriate.
The bottom line is this blog is for you. Please feel free to let me know if you have any suggestion to make it better. Thank you for your support!
I don’t have any suggestions about the site. But I think you’re lovely.
I too will be as frank as possible.
Too many susan pics. Like the huge one in this post, for example. Also the recent post “interesting chess information”. And that creepy anonymous “you are sexy i wanna date you” comment. Also see “Test Blog Test”.
On a related note, there is way way too much flattery regarding susan’s appearance in the comments. Probably 25% of all comments are about susan’s appearance. There is no need to constantly tell a woman (any woman) how good she looks. In fact i think it is disrespectful to fill a chess blog with comments about the player’s feminine appearance. It distracts from the chess content and reinforces the stereotype that male chessplayers are– (how do i phrase this)– not exactly big hits with the ladiez.
Also, i find the huge abundant childish cartoon graphics cause me to take the chess content less seriously.
This is just my personal opinion. No offense intended. Peace out.
Chess isn’t serious; it’s a game; it’s fun.
And no trait exists in complete isolation: trying to separate the attractive woman from the brilliant chess player is like trying to take the wetness out of water. The fact that she is a woman does matter. And frankly, I wasn’t just talking about her looks, I was also talking about her ability to slaughter me at chess.
Dirty old Fisher has some lovely moves of his own.
I would like to see a large picture of Susan with a famous chessplayer.
Susan’s comment: XY is not a nice person, he is not a gentleman and I wish I had never met him.
Patrick you ever hear the saying “you can’t please everybody” well that applies to you. I admit they’re are too many flirtatious comments and I have been guilty of some myself, but its Susans fans saying nice things not negative comments in abundance like yours. For your information the cartoon graphics are from Susans best selling childrens chess tutorial dvd! When you talk about not taking this site seriously, well I can’t take a person seriously who uses street phrases like ladiez (ladies)*, and “peace out” Why don’t you play another hip hop record and get real serious!

Back on topic, how about providing some documentation for the problem positions? I mean if they come from an actual game, say who, when, and where.
It would not only be educational, but it would help us who might want to look for the complete score.
@baboon trying to separate the attractive woman from the brilliant chess player is like trying to take the wetness out of water.
It’s neither metaphysical nor complicated. You can share comments about chess but keep your crush on susan to yourself. You would do the same thing with female coworkers or married female friends. Let’s be professional and talk about chess here. This is not amihotornot.com
Thank for keeping the site updated. The only suggestion that I have at present is that it would be helpful if you can give more details of the puzzle games. It is often just as instructive to see how a game got to a “puzzle position” as it is to try to solve the puzzle. If you give more details on the games we can look them up and replay the whole game. Of course this is after we attempt to crack the puzzle.
Maybe something more about the 1000’s of chess variants that exists, I think that they deserve more space. Much can be gained by thinking in new (and different) directions.
There are a lot of chess problems in variants too. I am thinking on Raymond Smullyan and Sam Loyd.
@partrick
‘Let’s be professional and talk about chess here.’
I’m not a professional chess player. I’m a fan. Why would I pretended to be a ‘professional’ when it’s more fun to be what I really am?
‘You can share comments about chess but keep your crush on susan to yourself.’
Why? I think I want people to know I appreciate her. I’m not talking dirty over here; there’s nothing sinister happening.
‘You would do the same thing with female coworkers or married female friends.’
I’m in the horrible habit of complimenting people who deserve it. I’ve not met a person who minded me being honest with them.
‘It’s neither metaphysical nor complicated.’
It’s not metaphysical, and it’s not complicated. It’s simple. We are what we are. Excelling at her chosen field has made her into a celebrity. We celebrate celebrities. Celebrate means to extol or praise. I freely offer up my praise.
I’m not saying you’re jealous, but if you want me to start praising you, too, all you have to do is ask, and I’ll try to think of some good qualities for you.
Hello GM Susan. I have some suggestions that I think would be very interesting for your blog. How about interviews that you conduct with different people in the Chess World from past Champions to current players. Another idea could be to highlight a great player from the past each month with little known interesting facts about these players, puzzles of their games and highlights of their opening signatures, chess styles, examples of their chessic strengths (example) Fischers endgame, or Tal’s beautiful sacrifices etc. and also 1 of their greatest games. I have another idea. How about asking Sophie to write something maybe once a month and also Judith. I think this would be fabulous for your readers and also carry on The Polgar legacy and impact on The World of Chess!
P.S. Thank you for this open forum for ideas and for giving us a free excellent site of the world of chess!

“There is no need to constantly tell a woman (any woman) how good she looks.”
You have to be joking, right?
“Chess isn’t serious; it’s a game; it’s fun.”
You must be partially joking, right?
Suggestion? Here’s one: post some winning games or game fragmentations from your young trainees. Morozevich, Kramnik, Kasparov, these can be found anywhere. Young girls (and boys) checkmating or winning pieces and pawns against their opposites, that would be a treat!
Suggestion? Here’s another one: post more photos from your training sessions and less of Tal, Iljumzhinov and Kok. The first ones would be so great to see!
Suggestion? Here’s yet another one: have your chess girls wear a Susan Polgar tee-shirt, while attending the Club lessons. Then make a few photos and promote them here and there.
Get some background music in the blog, ie. “Ghostbusters”.
Promote only your personal chess activities, they by far outweigh any other chess news around the globe.
Write some anecdotes from your chess life from the past.

Listen, buddy, you’re talking to a baboon.
To tell a beautiful women that she looks great and I want to date her is not a crime, is it??
If it is a crime then no beautiful women will get a proper date!!!
The ‘beauty’ of blogs is it’s scriptless…meaning it’s up to the author. So if Susan wants pictures, puzzles or whatever…it’s her blog. Boring blogs NEVER attract anyone. And…it’s helps to also be attractive.
I agree with Amy. This is Susan’s Blog, not TWIC and not a chess magazine.
Susan, your Blog is great! Do whatever you wish…if you wish to have some serious chess pieces one day, and fun photos the next…that’s all good! It is your Blog!
My question is: How do you find the time to do all of your posts to this Blog? Do you have help from others in writing and posting your entries? Thanks again for your fine Blog.
Actually there are plenty of beautiful women out there that would just as soon sue you for harassment if you complemented them as much as you complement Susan.

Are those women in an insane asylum?

Getting hit on (constantly) by nameless, faceless strangers on the internet has nothing to do with getting a “proper date”.
Demented baboon and especially Patrick could you please put this debate about wether or not it is right and just to tell an attractive woman that she is pretty and to ask her out on a date. Its sooooo dam boring and has nothing to do with chess! Thanks.

No, they’re working in the cube next to you.. Try googling for sexual harassment and see how many people have been sued so far. Oh, its the latest craze amongst teenagers too btw.

Lots of luck trying to sue someone for complimenting you. (…though I doubt you will ever have the chance.) You should first try suing people who make up asinine lies.
