L’arc of triumph was built to commemorate the victories of Napoleon. However, the district of Paris on which it was built was property of the Marbeuf family. Knowing that the true father of Napoleon was the marquis de Marbeuf, governor of Corsica…
For information. The real Arc de Triomphe is located in Paris. More Precisely on the Place de l’Etoile. 11 avenues leads to the Place de l’Etoile and the avenue of Champs-Elysées is only one of them ! But please note that this monument is only a copy of the real Arc de Triomphe. And I am not able to say where this one is from. I would say USA…
actually the triumphal arch in paris is a copy of hundreds of triumphal arches that were built long before it was erected. there are lots of grand triumphal arches around the world – moscow, st. petersburg, rome (has numerous ones), bucharest just to name a few. the largest triumphal arch in the world is the one in pyongyang, people´s republic of korea.
My guess would be Urk, a pretty small village in Holland. It was built for Jan after a victorious triumph beating his wife Bertha with a game of eating pies at the year 1485. Napoleon was inspired by it when he heard of a friend who visited the village in 1798.
Paris
Hi, Susan
I think that the real Arc of Triumph is located in Paris on the marvellous Avenue of “Champs-Elysées”
