President Ilham Aliyev has conveyed his condolences to the family of chess player Vugar Gashimov.
Gun.Az reports citing the president’s official website that the condolence says:
I have been very saddened with the premature death of your son, prominent Azerbaijani chess player, three-fold Azerbaijani champion, grandmaster Vugar Gashimov.
The services of Vugar Gashimov before the Azerbaijani sport are irreplaceable. He made unprecedented contributions to the development of the Azerbaijani chess school and always raised the name of our country to the heights with his bright victories.
The Azerbaijani people and the sport community are proud of our talented chess player, who was one of the strongest chess players of the world, and were awaiting many more victories.
The bitter fate took away Vugar Gashimov from among us in the time of his blossoming talent. But his bright memory will always dwell in the hearts of all of our, the Azerbaijani people and all chess fans.
In these hard moments, I share your grief and convey my condolences with deep regret to You, Mrs. Aida, and to all family members.
God bless him!

So sad.
Mr. Azerbaijan President. If you’re really sincere about honoring GM Gashimov you would make a book about the late GM’s life & brilliant games.
