According to numerous sources including the USCF and CBS TV, there are approximately 45 million people who know how to play chess in the United States.
According to FIDE, there are over 700 million people playing chess around the world. I think this number is too low but it is very encouraging news! That makes chess one of the most popular sports in this universe. Now we have to do our part to let the media know about it and do everything we can to make our game more appealing!
