Speaking to some of the senior staffers about the benefits of chess and its role in enhancing leadership quality. These are some of the most important people in the US government.
Chess is a good game to develop many of life’s skills; but let’s not get carried away: there are other sports/activities that are also great. There are some criticisms too that can be leveled against chess, for example: it fosters a “either I win or I lose” attitude, in the sense it does not encourage cooperative strategy to arrive at a mutually agreeable solution. We need to develop this attitude amongst the classical Republican-Democratic divide in this country and also the Shiite-Sunni-USA divide in Iraq!
It never ceases to amaze me. GM Polgar speaks to an important group of people in D.C. and someone has to bring politics into this discussion.
If such influential people are inviting GM Polgar to speak about chess, then this indicates her hard work to promote our sport is working.
I’m happy for you, Susan, and am very happy that you had this opportunity.
As for those who want to bring up political issues on Susan’s chess blog….why not just write your congressman/woman and/or Senator?
This is about how to help chess so it has nothing to do with the “Republican-Democrat” divide. There’s always going to be differences of opinion in politics.
But, last time I checked…one can promote and love chess and be a Republican, Democrat, or neither.
Speak of chess…not of political issues outside of the topic that GM Polgar cares so deeply about:
Wow what a photo…, Is that really you taking center stage? Susan, I have to admit you continue to deeply impress me… I’m Speechless.
King.
Yes, that is me in the center.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar

What does it have to do with the Department of Treasury appearance by Susan?
Be diligent in your work and before the kings you’ll stand.

Amazing! Susan you are one in a million!

So, how does chess help get things done at the Treasury? I’ve got to admit, this isn’t an obvious association.
Wow, even George Mashington was there 🙂
