Since PS70 could not attend the National K-12 Championship in Houston this past weekend, coach Shaun Smith from Chess-in-the-Schools helped coach the team from PS124. They leaped from the 4th position to 1st place by winning all of their last round’s games.
Congratulations to Shaun, Chess-in-the-Schools and the team from PS124! This is their 2nd consecutive national title! We also hope to see PS70 back in actions next year!

I should add that the PS 124M coach for years and the one that should be recognized is Olga Sagalchik. She has a done a great job building a great team in NYC that competes at a national level
With all the credits Shaun deserves, I fully agree with his comments. Moreover, Mr. Feltman should also be added to the credit list, for his excellent coaching of PS 124 for years, eventhough he didn’t go to the tournament.
