Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Hard to tell from this game, based on the level of resistance from Oppenheimer. I’ve read that Einstein wouldn’t play in tournaments because he couldn’t even beat his friend Lasker.
After Ne7? the finishing moves could’ve been found by an 1800 on a good day so I’d floor him at that, with the understanding he could be far, far stronger.
I think the only definite statement that can be made from this game is that Oppenheimer wasn’t a very good player and that Einstein was good enough to take advantage of this.

I agree with both “anonymous”‘s. Oppenheimer seems 1200-strength at best. He’s almost a complete novice.
Einstein gave good tongue.
Strange game. They start the game like 2 GMs and then Oppenheimer just starts making mistakes.
Is this the real game ?
He looks like a freaking sick lunatic from that ugly and disgusting photo.
“Is this the real game?”
Don’t you know that there are no real games any more?
He saw some tactics so I’d say he was at least 1600. But we should see more games to tell anything really.
well……oppenheimer is a complete patzer so you cant judge someone’s level based on 1 game unless of course he woulda struck down capablanca or something to that affect. not a measley novice.
Are we even sure this is a real game and not a spurious one? All too often, games from celebrities were never actually played and are spurious. Is there any evidence one way or the other on this game?
Reminds me of a vignette about Einstein’s violin playing…
He was invited to play along with a group of local musicians. After sawing away for a bit he stepped outside for a bathroom break. one of the musicians was heard to say, “Einstein can’t count.”

Well.. certainly a genius (alas not a chess one), on the chess board.
Black, ‘ Oppenheimer’ put up very weak resistence…though White, ‘Einstein’ played well…though you can’t say he’s a master from this game alone.
i bet einstein would of beat any of these posters!!!!!
