Parents who paid to get their children into a popular chess program just weeks before it shut down are starting to get their refunds.
7 On Your Side investigated and first told you last month about the popular Know Chess program.
Hundreds of children on the Peninsula, East and South Bay were enrolled and when the company shut down, many of the parents were left wondering if they would get a refund of their prepaid tuition.
“I hope other people see this, and other people get involved and that this woman doesn’t go on and continue to do this because it’s just going to disappoint children,” parent Michelle Biche said.
7 On Your Side contacted the owner of Know Chess and she promised refunds within eight weeks.
Now, that’s starting to happen. Three of the eight parents who contacted us for help now say they have received their refunds.
