The 1st International Chess Tournament of Patagonia took place from November 18th through November 25th, 2015, in Neuquen, Argentina.
The event was a 9-round Swiss open tournament which gathered 126 players from seven different countries.
The first place was split in a three-way tie between GM Axel Bachmann from Paraguay, Peruvian GM Julio Granda Zuniga and IM Yago De Moura Santiago from Brazil, after the whole group finished the event with 7.5 points.
Bachman clinched the title on a superior tie-break score after defeating IM Kevin Paveto from Argentina. Granda Zuniga took the silver, while Santiago remained third.
WIM Maria Florencia Fernandez emerged the best female player with 6 points and 18th place at the final ranking.
