ELMAN RUSTAMOV: “SHAKHRIYAR CHARACTER GIVES HIM MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO MOVE FORWARD IN THIS TOURNAMENT”.
The President of Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Elman Rustamov gave an interview to the World Cup Press service. Elman Rustamov talked about the performance of Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in the 1/4 final stage:”The main reason of my coming today is to support Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. I met him before the game and wished him success in the upcoming match. I really wanted him to know that we believe in him and all of us really want him to gain success in this tournament, though I understand this is a very hard tournament and that the best players in the world play here.Everyone wants to suceed in this Wolrd Cup, so the competition is very tough”.
In the 1/4 final stage Azerbaijani grandmaster Shakhriyar Mamedyarov is playing against Sergey Karjakin. Elman Rustamov said that he think that Shakhriyar will be successful in this encounter:”We know Mamedyarov’s character and we are awaiting for a bigger success from him. It is very hard to forecast now, but we believe in him. He shows really good play in this World Cup, he managed to pass through Fabiano Caruano, one of the strongest players in the world. Though Shakhriyar’s opponent in 1/4 final is also very strong, we belive in his potential to win”.
Elman Rustamov also shared his thought regarding the organization of the tournament:”Azerbaijan had always provided the highest standards of accommodation and event organization. Our country can hold events of a higher scope as well. Of course, we are happy to hear that the participants are happy with the accommodation. Baku World Cup and Chess Olympiad Committee has tried to provide all the services at the highest level. We will accommodate the Chess Olympiad 2016 in the next year. We will hold this event at the highest level possible”.
