Iranian grandmaster Morteza Mahjoub has set a new chess world record playing with 500 people in a simultaneous exhibition.
The marathon games started in Tehran on Thursday, August 13, at 9 a.m. local time and finished early on Friday, IRIB reported.
He secured 397 victories and 90 draws, gaining 442 points to put his name in the Guinness Book of World Records. The World Chess Federation (FIDE) representative confirmed the results.
Mahjoub replaced the last record-holder, Kiril Georgiev from Bulgaria, who had a record of playing chess with 360 opponents simultaneously, in 2008.
Georgiev played 360 games in nearly 10 hours. Mahjoub played 500 games in over 18 hours.

18 hours? Are they joking? So hundreds of people resigned after 10 moves?
Stupid record… But congratulations.
