GRENKE Chess Classic Baden-Baden / February 7th– 17th 2013
Category 19 GM tournament in Baden-Baden
For the time ever, the Chess Center Baden-Baden (Schachzentrum Baden-Baden) will host a category 19 GM tournament, the GRENKE Chess Classic Baden-Baden. This event will follow the tradition of great chess tournaments that the well-known southern german Spa town has established over the last two centuries.
Baden-Baden is also known in the chess world as the hometown OSG Baden-Baden, the most successful German club in the 1990 and 2000s. In the same period we started the Chess Center Baden-Baden, to lay further foundations for establishing Baden-Baden as an important center of the European chess community.
The main event of our chess weeks will be the GRENKE Chess Classic Baden-Baden, a supertournament which will give the the three German top players the chance to face three established world class players on their own soil.
As partners of the GRENKE Chess Classic Baden-Baden, we gained the GRENKELEASING AG, the German Chess Federation, and Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa.
