Common Chess Sickness! And this sickness can cause a lot of pain and headaches!
DO NOT get into time pressure! I have been preaching this to all my students for the longest time! Discipline yourself! I have seen countless World Championship titles, National Championships, Olympiad Gold Medals, and Big Tournament Money lost because of blunders in time pressure!
The higher and more important the stakes, the more pressure, and because of it, procrastination and indecisiveness! When you play in tournaments, the organizers tell you the time controls. It does not matter if it is 90/30, 25/10, 10/5, or 3/2, etc., you must adjust accordingly in your minds. If you do not then you will lose many games.
So why not set your own time control in your own mind for yourself? For example, if the organizers say 90/30, you set your mind for 75/30. If the organizers say 25/10, you set it for 20/10. If the organizers say 3/2, you set it for 2/2, etc. No matter what the official time controls are, you set your mind to less to give yourself some security cushion.
Isn’t it crazy if you spend 90% of your weekly income in the first 1-2 days, to leave yourself 10% for the next 5-6 days? That would be insane! So for example in this #BudapestOlympiad, why spend 80-90% of your time limit by move 15-20, then have only a few minutes for the next 20-25 moves? Because of this, crazy blunders happened!
This is a fixable chess weakness! But, it will take self control and discipline!

Chess is a recreational sport. You shouldn’t take it too seriously.
