Here are the final standings for the 2007 US Open. The 2008 US Open will be held in Dallas, Texas.
GM Gulko, GM Kudrin, IM Finegold, GM Shabalov, GM Rohde, IM Mulyar and Del Mundo tied for 1st this year. Congratulations to the co-champions!
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Is it just me…or doesn’t it seem a bit odd to have so many draws? Do you think folks might have “played for a draw” on purpose to, at least, tie for 1st place?
What about tie breaks? Just wondering.
congrats to the winners!!
Wow, look what Abby Marshall has done! She finished tied for eighth and she was ranked at 101 in the Open Section.
The Susan Polgar experience is providing a great environment for her and woman’s chess in the US.
This is most encouraging.
Look at the incredibly easy pairings Del Mundo had. He tied for first, but the highest rated person he played was 2301.
Contrast this with Nakamura, who played 6 players higher rated than that.
Very odd.
That is the half of it…Alisa Melekhina, another Polgar alumni, performed as impressively.
I uploaded a page to one of my sites that reflects the outstanding performances by Abby and Alisa (posting multiple column tables is not easily supported in the comment section of the blog).
