The 17th European Women’s Individual Chess Championship will take place from 26th May to 8th June at the complex Comandor-Amiral in Mamaia, Romania.
The Championship is organized by the Romanian Chess Federation, “Mind Games & Events” Sports Association, under the auspices of European Chess Union.
The Championship is open to all players representing the Chess Federations which comprise the European Chess Union (FIDE zones 1.1 to 1.10), regardless of their title or rating. There is also no limit of participants per federation. However, applications should be sent by the national federations.
The event is played as 11-round Swiss system in accordance with the ECU Tournament Rules and FIDE Rules of Chess. The playing time will be 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one. Default time is 15 minutes after the start of each round.
The 17th Individual European Chess Championship for women is qualification event for the next World Women Championship. According to FIDE regulations and the decision of the ECU Board, 14 players will qualify.
The prize fund is 60,000 EUR. Top prizes are EUR 11.000 / 9.000 / 7.000 / 5.500 / 4.000 / 3.000 / 2.500 / 2.250 / 2.000 etc
The registration fee of 100 € must be paid by all players before 1st April 2016 (registration deadline) and includes: official accreditation, free transfer from Constanta Airport or Railway Station, free public transportation in the city of Constanta during the Event, Coffee, Tea, Water and Sweets during Rounds.
In accordance with the ECU regulations, GM, IM, FM, WGM, WIM, and WFM are required to pay a fee of 65E/person, while other players have to pay 130E/person as the entry fee. ECU is invoicing only the National Chess federations for the participants.
