12th and 13th round of the Schachbundesliga
Since many years there was no such tension in the Schachbundesliga as this year. Four rounds before the end of the season three teams have the chance to win the German championship – Baden-Baden, Werder Bremen and SG Solingen. The German champion Baden-Baden faces Emsdetten and Wattenscheid and is odds-on favourite just like Solingen, who faces the relegation candidates SK König Tegel and SF Berlin.
The most interesting encounter of the whole weekend will take place in Essen-Katernberg, where Werder Bremen meets Mülheim. Both teams are expected to play with many grandmasters. Mülheim is trying to save the fourth place in order to qualify for the European Club Cup. At least six teams are fighting against relegation. Especially at the playing venues Munich and Berlin-Tegel we can await some really hard-fought battles.
