10-Year-Old Tyler Boy Wins State Chess Championship
Ten-year-old Jarod Pamatmat, of Tyler, continues to rack up achievements as one of the nation’s top junior chess competitors.
The son of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Pamatmat won the 2008 Texas State Chess Championship, Elementary Section, in Houston on March 8-9. He also took first in the 2007 National Grade Scholastic Championship and represented team USA in the 2007 World Youth Chess Championship in Antalya, Turkey. The Pamatmats have lived in Tyler since 2002.
