Will it man or will it be machine? What is your prediction? My prediction is a draw. Each side will win one game and four draws. If machine beats Kramnik, should Fritz be crowned World Classical Chess Champion?
I’d say its hard to predict outcomes of these at all. Look at Topalov crushing in San Luis. Now look at his Linares performance. Judging them separate from him you’d say the Linares player was definitely not the same player.
machine wins… Sorry but Mr Kramnik is not what he used to be and the machines are not either….its no contest. Look how they wiped out Adams. I still think Kasparov could keep it locked doen to at least a draw though.
Fritz shouldn’t be crowned chess champion for the same reason why automobiles aren’t crowned champion sprinters. As for the match, I believe Vlady Kramnik agreed to play this match not expecting to win (or maybe even not expecting to draw), but rather for the .5 mil appearance fee he collects, which he needs for his artritis therapy. I wish him all the best and soonest recovery and I hope he will get well someday and play the same (or better) chess as at his peak.
there is a very nice e-book novel from 1992 facing a man vs. machine match for the “real title” – the novel is titeled “Litwenko” – as far as i know the novel is in german language only – :-((.
in the end the silicon machines will win, but there is a bad taste of destruction around …
by the way, what do you think about participation of ferrari cars on human 100 meter runs?
brute force billion of chess positions aren’t infinite … and calculating is not mans self-fulfillment – i suppose …
and of course, if i were allowed to use opening books, endgame books and some notice by my own (called hash tables) – my chess sure-firely would perform to some better level …

No wins for Kramnik.
Maybe some draws.
The age of computer world chess champions is upon us.
Humans are obsolete.
