Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Mrs. Aronian is playing.
Arianne Caoli!!
Isn’t she the new Anna Kournikova of chess?
I am surprised, did not even know there was a Women’s Invitiational. Knowing the very strong Men’s Line-up I was of course curious – and had to learn that almost all of these players are mere amateurs. Even my rating, and I honestly know NO theory whatsoever, would be the second highest in this event. So my question is: is this a serious report, i.e. are these players in fact invited (meaning: travel and hotel expense covered)? I would be very surprised, given the ladies’ relatively weak playing strength. Does anybody know anything about this? Please no reference to the official website as I cannot access it from work anyway. Thanks!
