Is that set from China?
I understand that the Staunton pattern is the official recognized style of pieces use in competitive play. But are there any others which have strived to become more popular? I don’t mean these stylized figures (resembling specific figures like Napoleon) but actual attempts to create an alternative to the Staunton pattern.
