The match Kamsky – Topalov entered in a very dramatic momentum last evening when the Bulgarian news agencies published the text of the letter of Stefan Sergiev (President of the Bulgarian Chess Federation) to the FIDE President Kirsan Ilymzhinov. The text was full of factual mistakes and finished in a strange way for an official letter.
Early Saturday morning there was a quick reaction by the Bulgarian Chess Federation members and Silvio Danailov himself. They said, “The text of the letter in the Bulgarian news agencies is a wrong translation of the original that we have sent them.” After a while, the original of the letter of the Kamsky – Topalov match arrived by email to the Chessdom editors.
The wrong text (translation of which you can find here) continues to be spread through the Bgnes news agency.
The Bulgarian Chess Federation members specified, “Of course we did not call the match between Kramnik and Anand semi final, as it was published in Bulgarian media. This would be total disrespect to the match itself.”
Must have been a very fine day for the translator. I hope the translator is not a sworn translator.

In which language was the letter originally published?
I would assume English but then why is the translated version (your link) in English as well?
If something messy happens in Bulgaria, and especially in Bulgarian media, that would be of little interest to the world. Obviously Topalov has a special status in his own country and we shouldn’t be surprised. For me the real mess in this case was created by FIDE. Everybody can see how far their actions are from the way chess events should be organized in 21-century. Is it possible for chess to draw more public’s attention and attract some really big money without scandals? Yes, luckily we had some recent examples of that.
…it still is disrespectful to call the World Championship Match Anand-Kramnik the “other world championship match”, implying that Kamsky-Topalov is also a (full) world championship match, which it is NOT.
Let us remember…from all 4 players (Anand, Kramnik, Kamsky, Topalov) it is only Topalov who has no right to play for the world championship but just got a chance by his criminal manager danailov who is getting more and more influence in world chess….
