The 2015 Malaysian Individual Chess Championship for men and women took place from 14th to 18th March in Kuala Lumpur, the capital and most populous city of Malaysia.

The event was organized by the Malaysian Chess Federation and split into two tournaments – 9-round Swiss open for men and 9-round Swiss open for women.

The playing venue was the Second Floor Ballroom of the Olympic Hotel (Jalan Hang Jebat).

Yeoh Li Tan was convincing winner of the Men’s Open with 8,5/9 points. The 16-year-old-boy added new 22 ELO points to his rating and left the nearest followers full 2 points behind.

Second place was shared in a six-way tie by Zulkifli Muhd Syazwan, Lye Lik Zang, IM Liew Chee-Meng Jimmy, Sabri Mohd Saprin, Ooi Zhi Yang and Chan Yi Meng Ryan on 6,5 points each.

The Women’s Section was topped by WCM Azman Hisham Nur Nabila who scored 7,5/9 points.

WFM Tan Li Ting finished second with 7 points, while WFM Bakri Alia Anin Azwa remained third with 6,5 points.
