Cuban Chess Players Ready for World Team Championship

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 6 (acn) The Cuban chess will be tested during the World Team Championship convened from April 18 to 29 in the Armenian city of Tsakhkadzor.

Cuba , which finished seventh in the last Olympiad in Tromso, Norway, was the choice of the confederation of America, which will also be represented by the United States.

The national commissioner Carlos Rivero said the composition of the group will be announced in the coming days, as the updated ranking will provide parameters to consider.

Russia, Ukraine, India, China, Hungary, Egypt, Israel and the hosts are the other squads inscribed in a contest to be played under the Swiss system to one round.

The scoring format will be similar to the Olympics, with two points per match won, one when there is a draw and none if you lose.

Each squad can have four starters and a substitute, and it is expected the attendance of Cubans Leinier Domínguez, Lázaro Bruzón, Yuniesky Quesada and Isam Ortiz.
