The 8th International Chess Trophy Mohammed SEKKAT 2014 was organized on 17-21st November 2014 in Marakesh, the fourth largest city of Morocco.

The event was organized by the Royal Moroccan Federation of Chess Foundation SEKKAT under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco.

The tournament was played in a 9-round Swiss format with tempo of play 90′ + 30″. 160 players from 10 different countries took part in the 8th International Chess Trophy Mohammed SEKKAT, including 7 GMs, 4 IMs, 2 FMs and 1 WGM.

The first place was shared in a four-way tie by French GM Fabien Libiszewski, Bulgarian GM Vladimir Petkov, Egyptian IM Ali Farahat and French GM Vladimir Lazarev on 7.5/9 points each.

However, Libiszewski prevailed on a better tie-break score and took the gold, Petkov remained second, while Farahat took the bronze. You can see the full standings on the link below.
