The 4th Copa Latinoamericana de Ajedrez 2014 is scheduled to take place on 26-31st December at the Hotel Howard Johnson in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Concurrently with the main event there will be U14 Copa Latinoamericana (for players born 2000 or later), sponsored by FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
The organizers are Ecuador Chess Federation, FIDE America and FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess (WOM).
The main tournament is open to all players from Latin America chess federations. The playing format in both events is 9-round Swiss with the time control 90′+30”.
The top prizes in the main tournament are USD 3000/2000/1500/1200/1000 etc. There are also special prizes for women, seniors and elo grades.
The prizes in the U14 tournament include computers, DGT equipment and books.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee is IM Emilio Bastidas, President of Ecuador Chess Federation. Honorary Chairman is Jorge Vega, President of FIDE America. Tournament Director is WGM Martha Fierro, FIDE Vice President.
