Indian Grandmaster Harikrishna Pentala (2727), the current 2nd player of India and the 23rd player in the World, held a simultaneous chess exhibition on 29th October at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade.

GM Harikrishna played on 30 boards against public figures (actors, politicians, athletes, etc.), University professors, representatives of the media, children, etc.

The exhibition was part of “The Week of chess at the University of Belgrade”, traditionally organized by The Sport University Association of Belgrade. The “Week” is culminating with the Transatlantic Cup Svetozar Gligorić 2014 on 31st October.

The simul was introduced by the University officials and by Ambassador of India Mrs. Narinder Chauhan.

The participants put up a strong resistance against the renowned Grandmaster and the exhibition lasted for five hours, finishing only minutes before the midnight.

Harikrishna won 26 games and conceded only four draws, against actor Goran Danicic-Zuca, student Novak Puzovic, President of Serbia-Hungary Friendship Association Laszlo Vadleva, and journalist Ljubisa Stojiljkovic.

The Embassy of India screened a film about culture in India and organized tasting of Indian cuisine.
