That was a bad play of Wesley So against Penchenkin. Though a draw but that is -4.2 elo points. As I have observed, Wesley playing white has a poor opening reportoire but great middle and excellence end game… however he blundered at the end… Time was not on his side and his penchant of consuming time at the end game is costing him especially if his opponents is playing just to draw. He is an attacking player but he allowed his opponent to dictate his pace with the all pawn advance by blacks… a pawn blockade that prove to be the decider. Madam Susan please teach Wesley good openings and tell him not too consume too much time as not all the time his would lucky. Good thing this was an improved Wesley otherwise he would have lose. Just disappointed with the way Wesley played the white, guess he finally got tired with all those nail bitting end games in the previous games. 🙁
