This is a special interview with the famous International Chess Arbiter Andrzej Filipowicz. In this interview (January 26, 2014 in Lausanne, Switzerland), he talked for the 1st time on the record about one of the most outrageous chess political decisions in history.

FIDE, under late President Campomanes, made a shocking decision by giving every female chess player in the world an extra 100 rating points except Susan Polgar to take away her world #1 ranking.

The reason? Because she wanted to compete against the best male players in the world instead of against just women. In spite of this deliberate attempt to force her to change course, she still made history by becoming the first woman ever to earn the Men’s Grandmaster title via tournament play in January 1991.

It took one woman with a big dream and courage to fight the system, to prove the chess world wrong, and to pave the road for female chess players worldwide. Today, over 30 women have the Men’s Grandmaster title.
