Will Wesley say “SO?” tomorrow?
Published by Ingvar on February 26, 2013
It’s clear that one of the winners of Reykjavik Open 2013 will be named Wesley So or Pavel Eljanov. If one of them wins, that same player is a clear winner. If they draw some people can catch up.
So the question is, if Eljanov gives the early offer “I offer a draw” will Wesley reply “So?” and play on??
In more mundane terms: Eljanov and So are leading with 7.5 out of 9 before the last round, several players on 7. Will So take the crown or will the veteran Eljanov make good of the white pieces for a draw or a clear win?
I wonder, but I hope So will win the last game. However, if So will not be able to capitalized, So is still a winner because he: a) breaks 2700 Elo Rating, b) became first PHI GM to break such, c) made big improvements, and d) has still a lot of years to improve. Good luck Wesley!
