Pavlodar Open 2012, devoted to the Republic of Kazakhstan Independence Day, will take place from 29th November to 9th December at the Kazakhstan Chess Palace in Pavlodar.

The tournament is organized by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, Management of tourism, physical training and sports of the Pavlodar area, and Pavlodar Chess Federation. 

The playing format is 10-round Swiss and the tournament will be valid for FIDE rating and norms.
Tournament director is GM Kotsur Pavel. The prize fund is 12000 $, with the first prize being 3000 $.

Pavlodar is a city in northeastern Kazakhstan and the capital of Pavlodar Province. It is located 350 km northeast of the national capital Astana, and 400 km southeast of the Russian city of Omsk along the Irtysh River. As of 2010, the city has a population of 331,710.
