i timed myself. i was not able to find a solution in 20 seconds 🙁
took me longer than 20 seconds, but g5 looks good, with ideas of:
Bxg5 Qd4+ and QxN or
Be3 Rxe3 with idea of Bd4
If g3 Qxh3
Spent 5 minutes, and could find only 1…g5, with
2. B-any Qd4+ 3. Qxd4 Bxd4+ 4. Kh1 Bxc3, winning a piece.
2. Be3 Rxe3 3. Qxe3 Bd4, winning the Q for a R.
2. Bxg5 Qd4+ 3. Kh1 Qxc3, winning a piece.
Is there any better tactic here?
i spent so much time on piece play that g-5 escaped me for some 3-4 minutes
1 minute. g5! Be3- Rxe3 done.
g5 Be3 and Rxe3> 20sec’s
g5 if Be3 then Rxe3-Qxe3 Bd4!. 0r
Bh2 then g4 if hxg4 Be5! etc over 2minutes,
1…g5
2.Fxg5 Dd4+
3.Dxd4 Fxd4+ and 4… Fxc3 -+

Like the anonymous commenter at 11:06, g5 took me longer to find than 20 seconds (about a minute), but looks strong.
I think Anonymous 12:13PM has a point. In most combination exercises there is a forced mate or so to fin, hence moves like 1.-g5 aren’t the first ones to be tried. Maybe this is a rare example of a strong move that is easier (or faster) to find in over-the-board play [than in a tactical exercise] ??

A 20 minute puzzle perhaps?
This one was too hard for me. I saw g5 but then missed Rxe3… Sigh…
Also took me about 20 minutes. I’m not sure putting a suggested time on puzzles is that good of an idea — it promotes rushing to find a solution rather than learning how to look at a position carefully.
