STATE CHESS TOURNAMENT RESULTS

More than 600 students competed Friday and Saturday in the 40th annual state chess tournament at the Oregon Convention Center. Winners, as reported by tournament organizer Chess for Success:
Kindergarten-fifth grade teams: First, Jacob Wismer Elementary; second (tie), Cooper Mountain and Bridger; third (tie), Pacific Northwest Academy, Fox Hollow and Catlin Gabel School.
Sixth-eighth grade teams: First, West Hills Christian; second, Sherwood Middle; third (tie), Portland Christian, Highland Park, Winterhaven and Coquille Valley.
