Zone 3.1 Zonal Starts in Sharjah

Asian Chess Federation president Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifah Al Nahyan (center) opened the Zone 3.1 Zonal 4-13 July 2011 in Sharjah, UAE with all 11 countries of the Zone participating.

The Zonals are a 9-round Open Swiss system event among 16 players together with a 10-player round robin Women’s Zonal. The Zonal was moved from Yemen due to the strife there.
